ILCA UK Training – Race Coach Level 2 – WPNSA – 4-5 August
At ILCA UK we would like to provide more and better opportunities for young ILCA sailors to become qualified ILCA coaches. Our aim is to develop new coaches both to contribute to their own personal and professional development, and so that they can actively contribute to our class training activity.
We have partnered with the RYA to organise and run a Race Coach Level 2 (RCL2) course at WPNSA on 4-5 August. The tutor will be Tim Hulse, the ILCA UK Training Officer, and there will be a focus on the ILCA.
The cost will be £200 per person. The course is non-residential and you will need to organise your own travel and accommodation. Additionally, in order to keep costs down, you will need to provide your own ILCA to be used during the practical exercises.
There will be six places on the course. We expect it to be popular and so it will be selective. During the application process you will be asked some questions relating to your sailing and coaching experience and your future coaching plans. The replies that you provide will help to inform the decision making process. Please note that our expectation is that those who complete the course will make themselves available to coach at future ILCA UK training events.
To apply for the course, you must:
· Be an ILCA UK member
· Be an RYA member
· Be minimum age 16
· Hold an RYA Level 2 powerboat handling certificate
· Have an approved and valid first aid certificate
· Be a good club racer
· Have completed the RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding awareness course. This is a free online course.
